3.
Junsei finally gets Izumi to open up a little. they start to get to know each other, and eventually she agrees to a date. Their connection is sudden and fast and their relationship becomes serious and passionate within...
4.
The pure magic of new love. Junsei and Izumi can't believe they've found each other, their souls are complete. Every day is an adventure, their hearts leap from their chests…
5.
Laying in each other’s arms, the lovers promise that no matter where their lives lead, that on Izumi's 30th birthday they will meet at Meoto Iwa, the married rocks in Ise…
6.
Time progresses - the couple moves to Macau, Izumi has an opportunity and a big company there. The couple fails their toughest test. Junsei isn't making enough money as an artist, financial stress and feelings of failure plague him, he withdraws. Izumi is courted by someone from her office - she's staying out late…
7.
Junsei becomes consumed in grief, withdraws completely. Izumi, feeling completely alone, cheats on him - feels the warmth faded from their bond. Seemingly without remorse, she leaves him.
8.
Junsei has lost it all. He has a long inner monologue about not wishing the love he felt for Izumi to be overtaken by anger. Junsei returns to his home in Yokosuka, Japan, leaving Izumi and all of his hopes and dreams for a lifetime filled with love in Macau…
9.
Izumi is in Japan. The couple haven't seen each other in over a year and a half. Izumi is engaged to be married to a Japanese man also living in Macau. Her fiancé is in Japan with her to meet Izumi’s family. The estranged lovers meet in Verny Park one breezy night in Yokosuka. The two look out over the still waters of Tokyo bay, reflecting a full moon. They are both sorry - Junsei wants to kiss her, she wants him to, but they both know there's no turning back time and they have both hurt each other too much. He doesn't know that she cherishes the letter he wrote, it's for the best.
10.
Life goes on. Junsei, utterly unsatisfied, finally breaks up with his new girlfriend. She is furious, deep down she knows his heart belonged to Izumi all along. Junsei moves into his grandfather’s house - an old wooden home in the winding hills just outside town. He spends his time in personal reflection, working on his art as an outlet for the unfulfillable longing that consumes him…
11.
Several years pass. Izumi's engagement has fallen apart, her fiancé overworked and emotionally dead. Izumi has moved back to Japan, but hasn't told or seen Junsei. It's the day of Izumi’s 30th birthday, alone and exhausted - ready to give up on love for the rest of his life but unable to extinguish the last flicker of love’s flame, Junsei travels to Meoto Iwa in Ise. He prays at the shrine, and looks out over the waves crashing against the ancient stones. There at the married rocks, love makes its last stand. He remembers his life, and Izumi woven through it…
12.
A blur from the corner of his eye. Could it be? Yes, it's her. Izumi remembered their long past promise. The two look at each other from a distance beside the waters of Meoto Iwa, Junsei smiles. Izumi looks back, tears rolling down her face, and beams a bright smile back. Cut to black - their future is left unknown to us.
